Huge thanks to those joining me for a virtual Enterprise Discussion last Thursday, during which we critically considered ideas of ‘design thinking’ and shared our thoughts/sketches around our personal creative processes.
Secret Writing Society on Friday
It is the first Friday of April this Friday, and we’ll be going ahead with our ‘Secret Writing Society’ online meeting for staff, students and recent graduates who are interested in exploring creative writing and feel like a chat during the holiday season.
We’ll be using zoom to link up. Instructions on how to use zoom are here. Our live discussion will take place between 12.30 and 1.10. I’ll be posting a joining link here on site.
Useful resources for artists on New Art West Midlands website
If you’re a recent graduate whose work has been impacted by COVID-19, please check out the fantastic page that New Art West Midlands has put together to support creatives across the West Midlands – link below:
Emergency funding for organisations and individuals – deadline soon!
Arts Council England have announced that £160 million of emergency funding will be made available for organisations and individuals during the COVID-19 crisis. In order to apply, you need to register with Grantium by Friday 3 April 2020. A written guide to setting up an account can be found here, a YouTube video on setting up an account can be found here.
My Place Grants (for Herefordshire-based creatives)
Herefordshire community groups, charities, and collectives can still apply for My Place grants of up to £2,000 from Herefordshire’s a Great Place. “This funding might not solve the problems we’re all facing right now, but it could be a little light at the end of tunnel. Grants can be used to commission artists & creatives to make new work or run arts activities across Herefordshire. The arts activity doesn’t have to happen until much later in the year, but it could be a lifeline for Herefordshire-based creatives right now. Maybe you want to support your village hall, a community or small group near you?”
Further information and links available on the NAWM website.
National Poetry Writing Month
As it is National Poetry Writing Month, there will be a further challenge for those who are interested in joining in. NaPoWriMo, as it’s affectionally called, encourages you to write a poem a day during April. They don’t have to be great works of art, but rough drafts, playful words, found poems and short forms like the American Sentence all count!
We’re working on getting some further optional facilitated Enterprise online resources and short sessions up and running after the Easter Break. Plus, the amazing Keith Temple (HCA’s Course Leader for Short Film Media) and I are in the process of looking how we can further share our work/ideas through e-zines. Watch this space for further details, and if you have any ideas/thoughts to share around all things Launchgrad and Enterprise related please don’t hesitate to let me know.
